The Yuchengco group’s PetroGreen Energy Corp., or PGEC, is moving to formally start the construction of its 25-megawatt or MW Bugallon Solar Power Project early next year.

The company announced on Thursday that the Local Government Unit or LGU of Bugallon, Pangasinan already issued the project’s locational clearance last 14 November.

The corresponding pre-construction building permit, on the other hand, will be issued in time for the target start of development in January 2024.

Full support

“We are very pleased with the full support extended by Mayor Espino, the Sanggunian Bayan, and the entire host community of Bugallon,” PGEC’s Atty. Roberto Santos said.

“Such commitment from local governments is vital so that the investments and efforts of the private sector and the Marcos Jr. administration to increase the country’s renewable energy supply eventually succeed,” he added.

The Bugallon Solar Power Project will be located on a 25-hectare site in Barangay Salomague Sur, Bugallon, Pangasinan.

It is expected to supply clean and renewable power in the area by the last quarter of 2024.

Once operational, the facility is expected to generate 41,000 MWh of power annually and to reduce carbon emissions by 29,056 metric tons.

Much-needed investment

Mayor Priscilla Espino said the LGU welcomes this “much-needed investment by PetroGreen.”

“If PGEC has other upcoming RE projects, they can bring and develop them here in our town,” the mayor said.

Espino and the Sangguniang Bayan of Bugallon had earlier issued a Resolution Interposing No Objection on the renewable energy project.

PetroGreen Energy Corporation is the renewable energy holding subsidiary of publicly-listed PetroEnergy Resources Corporation, a member of the Yuchengco Group of Companies.
